Knitted Knockers

Directory of Collection Points for Knockers and Providers seeking Helpers – United States

Ohio

This is a list of registered knitters/groups knitting or crocheting knockers that have indicated they welcome help from local volunteers. Groups listed may or may not be involved in direct distribution of knockers. Some have agreed to be a local collection point for the knockers you make and others meet together on a regular basis. Each group is independent in the way they work. You may be asked to register with us before helping. When providing knockers locally please include your contact information and the name of the approved yarn used.

Do not use this directory to order knockers or request information about receiving knockers. You can order a pair of knitted knockers for personal use at https://www.knittedknockers.org/request-a-knocker/. If you are a medical clinic please visit https://www.knittedknockers.org/medical-providers-information/ for more information on how we can partner with you to provide free knitted knockers to your patients.

I supply both Zangmeister Clinic and Stephanie Spielman Clinic with knitted knockers approximately every 3 months. They require several pairs of knockers in every size. I need other knitters and crocheters to help me with their needs. I would be willing to pick up unstuffed knockers in the Columbus area or meet someone halfway or receive the knockers at my home in Worthington.

We are a local farm working with a few local knitters to provide knockers. We are the state supplier for Ohio and send out 12-15 pairs each week. Along with this, we supply 9 clinics. Most of our clinics are located in Ohio, but we do have one in South Carolina and one in Florida. We are always looking to add clinics to our base of giving. We would love to have finished, unstuffed knockers sent to us. If there is anyone local who would like to learn to stuff and package knockers, I can always use help.

I started knitting knockers about a year ago when a friend of mine who had a mastectomy showed me a knocker she was given after her surgery. I taught myself to knit the knocker using the pattern, materials, and videos supplied on the knitted knocker website. I was thrilled to be able to give my friend knockers I had knitted. I have enjoyed making them and have recently adopted the UC Breast Center Clinic in Cincinnati where I am supplying them with knockers. I would welcome anyone who is interested knitting or crocheting knockers to help in supplying the local clinic. I will accept stuffed or unstuffed (saves on the cost of mailing). You can drop off or mail knockers to me made with the approved pattern and yarns from the website. Feel free to reach out to me with any questions you have.
