Our Mission
We believe every woman deserves access to this simple gift of comfort and dignity. The need is greater than any one group can meet alone — but when individuals and communities each care for the survivors in their own counties, together we can reach every woman who needs us.
What is a knitted knocker?
A knitted knocker is a soft, handmade breast prosthesis for women who have undergone a mastectomy or lumpectomy. Traditional silicone prosthetics can be hot, heavy, and sticky — and many can’t be worn until weeks after surgery.
Knitted knockers are different. Placed in a regular bra, they take the shape and feel of a real breast. They’re lightweight, adjustable, washable — they can even go swimming with you. Each one is handmade with love by a volunteer knitter or crocheter, and every knocker is completely free to any woman who needs one.

I’ve been googling to see what I can find to help her and I found these! They’re called Knitted Knockers and they are absolutely adorable!! Completely free too! I signed her up 2 weeks ago and she received them today! I was able to pick her size, there were custom colors (I just picked neutral), and they’re so lightweight and comfortable ! We are so excited!!!

Five years cancer-free. Just turned 56. Hoping for reconstruction next year after knee replacements. Nanci is looking forward — and she has a lot to look forward to.
But she remembers what it felt like before her Knitted Knockers arrived.
Her oncologist had told her about us. The professional prosthetics she tried first were too big, too heavy, and wrong for her body. She couldn't wear them comfortably. She felt self-conscious in her clothes.
Then her Knitted Knockers came.
"They were beautiful! I couldn't wait to try them on!"
"Knitted Knockers have been a blessing. They have given me confidence to wear outfits without feeling self-conscious or disappointed because the tops don't fit well. The soft yarn is awesome."
Nanci didn't keep them to herself. "When I was wearing them regularly, I told so many people about them." That's the kind of word-of-mouth no marketing budget can buy — just a woman who felt good in her clothes again, passing it on.
She sums it up this way: "I think every person who has had to deal with cancer should have access to prosthetic breasts they can feel comfortable with. Not everyone has health insurance that covers professional prosthetics. I think it's wonderful that they are available for anyone, and can be customized with size and color."
