Thanks so much for the beautiful knitted knocker-I love it! I took out most of the fill, and it fit wonderfully. Will bring your stash to work with me, Wednesday. What an amazing ministry of love and hope! Am reminded of Romans 8:28, and of His faithfulness. We are children of an amazing Father! Who but God can take a difficult situation, turn it around for good, and allow the person to be a blessing to others, sewing seeds of Love and Hope. Thanks again

(Knitter)

Barb – thank you for letting me know – I’ll keep knitting! And thank you for sharing the e-mail. It’s wonderful and pretty amazing that I, who love to knit, can do something that I enjoy so much and be helpful to others. I hadn’t written down your e-mail address when I was at the TaTa-A-Thon and oddly enough I found it on the happyhooker site with the message that Shelby referenced. Your reaching out to the woman in California was very touching.

Thanks again so much for making this possible. I saw Dr Whitney yesterday and Julie his nurse said the knockers are flying out the door… just when I think we are on top of it I find out we need more J. She said the women seem to like the brighter colors and believe it or not your “hairy” one was the first one to go. The woman said, “oh, can I have that one?”. Julie says the whole office laughs when they see her carrying the bag down the hall because she loves giving them out so much. Yesterday they needed a smaller one than I had. She said that we are back to needing mostly Bs again. Funny how that goes. The lady yesterday was so distressed because she couldn’t be reconstructed for awhile pending radiation so this was a perfect solution for her. She has a bigger than appropriate one now until I can finish the one I’m working on and get it over there.

I am keeping you up to date because you are my super hero knitter and I want you to share in the joy you are giving.

Thank you so much for making knitted knockers available in Bellingham! I got one from my surgeon, Dr Helen James. I’m grateful to the knitters for the light-weight, free, and amusing solution.

I want to make mine (which is pink*) into a “swim boob” for my bathing suit, so I want to know what the yarn is made from. I assume it’s washable, so would probably be OK in water. I plan to stuff it with pieces of old bathing suit material, which I hope will dry faster than the poly stuffing

I would like to contribute to your efforts. I don’t knit. Please let me know how to get a donation to you.

Gratefully
~Libby

*The multicolored ones made me laugh — healing, but not what I wanted to wear.

I went to the doctor today and they were full of amazing stories as recently as yesterday. They said that surprisingly the brighter colors are the more popular and the women are delighted when they get them. I know from personal experience that that is true; They seem to be needing the size B and Cs right now.
