Knitted Knockers

Our Mission

Connect volunteer knitters and crocheters with breast cancer survivors to offer free Knitted Knockers to any woman who wants them. There is a huge demand for Knitted Knockers that can’t be met by any one group but together we can do it! If someone in each area will set a goal of meeting the need in just their county it can happen!

Knitted Knockers are special handmade breast prosthesis for women who have undergone mastectomies or other procedures to the breast. Traditional breast prosthetics are usually expensive, heavy, sweaty and uncomfortable. They typically require special bras or camisoles with pockets and can’t be worn for weeks after surgery. Knitted Knockers on the other hand are soft, comfortable, beautiful and when placed in a regular bra they take the shape and feel of a real breast. Our special volunteer knitters provide these FREE to those requesting them.

Meet some of the wonderful volunteers changing lives...

Wow! What a group from Connecticut. Check out this update from them!

Hello from Connecticut and Ladies of the Knockers.

Lots of exciting things happening here. Our meetings have moved indoors but group size is limited to 10-12 (social distancing in the shop area available to us.). Folks are really happy to be together again.

And we’re growing!!!!

I did an informational program at our Senior Center and 9 people attended. Turns out all were knitters!  They were interested in getting involved so, in light of the space restrictions we are working under in Granby, a second Ladies of the Knockers group was started in the Simsbury Senior Center. No space restrictions there so all the Granby knitters now have another option if we fill up our Granby meeting.

Granby meets 1st Saturday of the month, 3:00-4:30.

Simsbury meets 2nd Tuesday of the month, 2:30-4:00.

We’re about to send 118 Knockers to NJ, for further shipment to the Philippines. This will be our 3rd shipment to Bayanihan Knitted Knockers and we’ll continue to send unstuffed A’s and B’s every few months.

We are also collecting unstuffed Knockers to send to you ladies. Our inventory stays at a level where we can restock 2-3 of our clinics, then we look to supply the Philippines and you.

Our newest knitters had never heard about Knitted Knockers and are thrilled to be involved, as are all us older members. Thank you for all you do and for giving us a wonderful purpose.

With much love,

Linda

Knitted Knockers

Wow! Just ran the numbers for the year and together we all gave out 138,066 knockers in 2021 to deserving women all over the world and those are just the ones we know of! In 2021 we sent out from "headquarters" in Washington State 28,956 KKs, averaging 556 per week. 9,320 of those were stuffed KKs. Can you even imagine stuffing that many??? 188 state suppliers and groups from around the world filled the rest! And that doesn't even count all the others that volunteers provided directly to friends and neighbors. It's truly humbling what you all continue to do in spite of the challenging times we are in. Love conquers all! Please share so others can find out how to order them or help out :-). knittedknockers.org ... See MoreSee Less

Knitted Knockers

It is with so much appreciation that we announce that Deb is retiring from her position as the phone volunteer for Knittedknockers.org. She brought a listening heart to hundreds if not thousands of women who called requesting knockers or more information. She has been the front line voice for over 6 years and will be sorely missed. She is "leaving well" even finding her replacement and is still continuing on assisting in the background. So welcome Mary, founder of Great Knockers Again in Colorado. Mary and her group have been a tireless supporter and state supplier for knitted knockers for many years. Some of you met Mary on the Nautical Knocker Knitters Cruise a few years ago. Mary is the beautiful lady circled in blue with her group. THANK YOU Deb and THANK YOU Mary!!! Happy New Year! ... See MoreSee Less

Well done Deb; I will truly miss your compassionate care for requests, those that needed special attention. Then there was always support for me as nature hit with volcano eruptions, hurricanes. Thank you so very much special person!

Good luck Deb, and welcome Mary! 🙂🥰

Love those smiles 🙂 Thx to Deb for all those phone hours!

Thank you to all you ladies who make knitted knockers. It was a first time after my mastectomy that I cried because of the joy of being able to swim. I found out rather quickly that if you don’t pin them in your bathing suit, they float away. Lol

I’m sure a donation would be more than welcome to cover the expenses.

Blessings to her!

Thank you all for the wonderful work you do!

Best wishes and thank you!!! xoxo

Enjoy retirement 💕💕

Thank you for what you do.

Congratulations on your retiring and thank you for all your work over the years

Deb we just wanted to say 😊 and a big giant welcome to Mary.

Congratulations on your retirement Deb — well done! And congrats to our own Mary on your much deserved new role! What a perfect position for you! ♥️ 🧶 ♥️

Thank you, Deb, for your many years of dedicated service! ❤️🧶 Congrats, Mary, on your new role — you’ll be amazing! 🎉❤️

Great job ladies. You have helped so many women!!

Congratulations on an excellent job Deb! Transforming so many lives is phenomenal 🙏🙏🙏💗💗💗💗

Knitted Knockers

What a great video from our friends in the Philippines. Knittedknockers.org sent over 1,000 knockers to them to stuff and distribute. We met a surgeon at a medical conference and she caught the vision for helping the women of her country. Thank you Dr Fernandez and team for making it happen! ... See MoreSee Less
